The two industrial workshops are accessed through a shared office building that separates from the warehouses, creating sheltered break away courtyard spaces and roof terraces as well as interfacing with the urban scale of the street. Sharing a common face-brick plinth the workshops and office sections of the facility are unified architecturally, allowing the approach to the office building to be more human-scaled, and the pitched roof and generous overhangs wash the spaces in light and allow for the view.

In addition to the 1500-square-metres of shared office space, each company needed a workshop and stores of 2650-square-metres. The functional requirement of an internal height of 8,5m to underside of the roof truss and a structure to support various gantry-crane requirements, resulted in the structural approach and clean, industrial character of the industrial interiors and associated large external yard area for assembly required by the engineering company.

The property owners added a 200-square-metre storage building with security and refuse rooms at the new entrance off Range Road. A rainwater harvesting system with treatment plant and extensive solar PV installation were incorporated to supplement water and electrical supplies.

Anticipating future growth, the new workshops and office building were positioned on the site so that they could easily be linked to the adjacent warehouse should this be required, while allowing for further expansion to the south and for the planned connecting roadway along the 800m southern boundary.
